Nick Taylor was born in Somerset, England, in 1944, but came to South Africa at the age of 5. He started playing guitar at a very early age, and turned professional after leaving school, working as a sound engineer in a Cape Town studio. In 1963 he joined the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), providing jingles for radio programmes and also hosting his own show, "The Nick Taylor Show". He began his recording career in 1964. This song is off the album "The Hits Of Jim Reeves", released in 1974. Jim Reeves released his version of the song in 1964.
