On icey rail and with a heavily loaded coal train, SY1425 struggles for traction as it brings a loaded train into the washery yard from the deep mines, 23/11/2012. One of the loco crew can be seen standing on top of the boiler while operating the sanding gear manually. Recently, all locos have been turned around. This climb into the yard used to be a spectacular chimney first sight. Nowadays we have to settle for tender first. Unfortunately, I was huddled behind a brick building to shelter from the biting wind and so missed the best wheel slip which is just out of sight !
