Hello, Its Nick Dutch back again. I am sorry not to be on camera today. I was thinking about why these creationists bother to try and prove the existence of God at all. After all, they can barely define what God is. Can anyone prove something that they can't define? Certainly not. So why on earth do these people persist on trying to prove the existence of something that they can't? And if they were to prove the existence of God surely that is going counter to the actual function of faith and belief as after something is proven, one does not need to believe it. I think that we can say that religion, and especially organized religion, is something that is there to affect behavior, such as to make the behavior of an individual follow the rules of society, or to generate charitable behavior in the wealthy. The coming Christmas season with its mythology and customs is one such festival whereby we are supposed to learn the merits of giving so that once we are all wealthy millionaires, we may consider the poor and give to a charity for the homeless.
Now, if we were doing this under the power and authority of a religion, surely the belief itself is the power. If we have God proven to us, we need no longer believe, but we seek further evidence of His will for us maybe. So the search for proof and then the finding of proof can actually be counter productive to the change that the religion is supposed to be creating in us.
My experience suggests that prayer is something that one can do to make a change occur in the mind of the individual. This can be done to create spiritual sensations or experiences, or to create personal change in the life of the individual. I often prescribe prayer to some clients to help them to overcome some intellectual or emotional obstacles that is getting in their way.  Tell them that if they don't believe in god then make one up and learn to feel what it is like to believe something. The mind altering effect is usually quite powerful. The moment that God becomes proven to them, the analytical mind kicks in and the individual loses their power of faith. The influence of belief over knowledge is quite interesting and powerful, and at times useful in its own right.
