Spending a few hours at Ashland today got me two CSX trains and five Amtraks. Not too bad for a short duration of time. Trains #1 and 2: CSX Q031 with another mid-DPU and both units being Tier 4s in the 3400 series meets Amtrak P080. Q031's conductor waved to me too. CSX Q031 1. ET44AH #3428 2. ET44AH #3416 (mid-DPU) Amtrak P080 1. Amtrak P42DC #72 Train #3: CSX D749 with a sole long hood forward GP40-2 (once again 6149) goes by Ashland. I swear, 6149's been working here a lot. Even more than 6152 did at one point. Another unique thing is that this train had an SP boxcar. As Mike would say "Yay! Southern Pacific!" 1. GP40-2 #6149 Train #4: Beginning the Amtrak parade of the afternoon is Northeast Regional #95, which finished its stop at Ashland not long ago. It's now on the move toward Richmond. I like the engine's K5LA. 1. P42 #150 Train #5: I moved slightly to the north to get better light since the sun's setting early since Daylight Savings Time. Amtrak P091 rolls through Ashland, VA with two P42s instead of one, AND two café cars instead of the usual just one! 1. P42 #188 2. P42 #40 Trains #6 and 7: Amtrak Auto Train #53 and Palmetto #90 meet in downtown Ashland. The Auto Train goes by first, then the Palmetto catches up. Unfortunately, it seems that the England Street Crossing got its classic mechanical bell replaced with an E-bell since the last time I went to this part of town. Amtrak P053 1. P40 #831 2. P40 #814 Amtrak P090 1. P42DC #166
