Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxaJnpy14kY This is a sample of Kardinal's productions (beats), from the beginning of his career to 2008. One of his productions, "Let's Ride" by Choclair, peaked at #37 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart. In an interview, he said: "I learned how to make beats on the SP1200 and made everything up to the 4000XL, but my favourite thing is still the ASR10. I used to think Id have to graduate to the MPC, but its me, Timbaland, Nottz, Jake One, Pharrell, Kanye, all my favourites use the ASR10. We use other things with it but the basic thing we use is the ASR10. With keyboards, I try to buy keyboards every year and when Im through with them go to the Guitar Centre and see whats the new keyboard with the new dope sounds. I hate being able to identify where certain sounds come from. I dont even know the names of the keyboards that I have now, but I went into Long & McQuade and said: 'Let me get the red one and that little white one right there.' So I really try to go for the keyboards with the new sounds that I can flip in the ASR, which is a pretty tricky thing to do because its an old school piece of machinery. Theres an MPC there for random people who come through the studio and ProTools. Besides that, just musicians. A lot of the time I work with musicians now so I can play stuff out that sounds like a sample, but its not."
