The day after the great Big Boy move was a day of rest and return to home base for NVRRP. Early in the morning, at the start of our 1300-mile, 19 hour drive home, we pulled over to have us a good look at Cajon Pass. We caught a good amount of action in just under an hour. We start off with a special BNSF load following another BNSF intermodal down the west slope of the pass, around the area of Sullivan's Curve. We then head up a little higher to a secluded spot along the pass, where another BNSF intermodal drops downgrade. Then it is up to the summit we go, as a set of UP helpers powers eastbound on down towards Victorville, followed by a UP mixed freight. We conclude with a high speed meet we captured later in the day in the heart of the Mojave desert. This was between Needles and Williams. In this, we see an Eastbound bare table shoot past a Westbound Piggy back along I-40. It was a good day with lots of trains! Rate. Comment. Subscribe. ENJOY!!!
