The Cadillac CT5 is a new entry into the compact utility space, replacing the old SRX with a lighter and larger vehicle, plus more efficient and loaded with all kinds of technology. The Cadillac XT5 uses a 3.6L V6 engine with a respectable 310hp. The power goes to the front wheels or optional AWD, it is a good idea to buy an AWD in Canada for resale value. The most popular model is the base 2.0L that is rated at a 12.9L/100km in the city and 8.9L on the HWY with AWD. The XT5 standard Safety includes front, side and curtain airbags, plus a driver’s knee airbag along with traction and stability control. Also available as an option is forward collision warning an autonomous braking. The inside of the XT5 is a very clean design that uses beautiful hand cut and sewn leather. This minimalist approach is in contrast to older Cadillac products. There are swipe feature controls and an available rear view monitor. The XT5 8-inch screen comes with Android Auto, apple car play, plus an LTE 4G hotspot and GM’s OnStar system. This is about as connected as one can get today. The rear lift gate is power and keyless entry and push button start are standard. A base XT5 starts at roughly $45,000, the FWD version and the first AWD starts at $54,000 before any additional packages. Here are the highlights Cadillac has certainly upped its game with this new XT5. It is lighter and larger, plus better on fuel. The interior is crafted with first-rate material and is a very connected car. The only downside is that many people don’t consider this brand when shopping for a utility vehicle but it punches, in some ways above its weight.
