UK communications watchdog Ofcom has fined Virgin Media and EE £13.3million for overcharging almost 500,000 customers who wanted to leave their contracts early. Ofcom said both companies failed to make clear the charges customers would have to pay if they ended their contract ahead of schedule. Ofcom fined EE £6.3 million and Virgin Media £7 million for breaking consumer protection rules.
