On December 5, 2018, The Heartland Institute and Solidarity - the Polish labor union led by Lech Walesa that began the dismantling of the Iron Curtain - signed a joint communique pushing back at the climate alarmism of the United Nations.

Solidarity requested what turned into nearly three hours of presentations and Q&A on the latest climate science and critiques of the UN's policy prescriptions to combat global warming. Duly impressed, Solidarity asked Heartland to join them in a communique they submitted to COP24 in their home country.
