Flotilla for Friendship builds bonds between aboriginal youth and police

Six police departments and five Aboriginal youth groups spent the day together in an annual canoeing event aimed at helping improve relations between them. The cops and kids in the 15th Annual Flotilla for Friendship launched Wednesday, July 8th after a water ceremony at Dow’s Lake and paddled the canal, portaged down the locks to the Ottawa River and launched again in the river just below the Bytown Museum, paddling upstream to Victoria Island for a feast and closing ceremony.
