Now all eyes are on this star performer of Delhi elections.Let's have a look on the life and times of Arvind Kejriwal. IRS officer-turned-anti-corruption crusader and now a politician Arvind Kejriwal who floated Aam Aadmi party is now ready to form government in Delhi with full majority . Scripting a new political narrative, Arvind Kejriwal's come back leading the AAP to victory, reflects his strong positioning as a "change agent". Kejriwal was born on August 16, 1968,at Hisar in Haryana. He won the Roman Magsaysay award in 2006 for his contribution to the enactment of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005. His father Gobind Ram Kejriwal was an electrical engineer. He is married to Sunita who is his bacthmate from civil service training days. After graduating from IIT Kharagpur Kejriwal joined the Tata Steel in Jamshedpur but took a sabbatical to study for the civil services entrance. He joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 1995 after clearing the civil services entrance in first shot. Meanwhile, he continued his social work and activism. Kejriwal shared the stage with social activist Anna Hazare and fasted for the passing of the Jan Lokpal Bill. In 2012, he moved away from Anna Hazare and the Fight Against Corruption movement to launch the 'Aam Aadmi Party'. In 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP was the second largest party in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal contested the elections from New Delhi constituency and defeated the then Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit by a huge margin. After the BJP failed to win majority votes in the Assembly elections in Delhi, AAP formed a minority government with the support of Congress. However, the experiment failed in a short period of 49 days. While Kejriwal kept some of his promises to the common man like slashing electricity bills and providing 700 litres of free water supply in Delhi, he was criticized for staging dharnas and protests unlike of any chief minister. This time Delhi has given him a historic mandate, now it is to be seen how he proves himself up to the expectations of the capital city. Bureau Report,DD News
