This session was filmed at the Freescale Technology Forum Orlando June 2010. This session traces a guided path starting with the historical roots of Fiat Powertrain's Technologies, then describe the current breakthrough solutions (e.g. Multijet, Multiair, TCT) and finally highlight the technical challenges ahead and the foreseeable solutions. The development of the powertrain control strategies, such as the multiple adjacent injections, the accurate combustion process control, the different operating mode of the MULTIAR SV and the precise control of the TCT SV, have been made possible through sophisticated automotive electronics solutions based on the Freescale eSYS platform. The related IP, proprietary to FPT, has been protected by means of ASIC technology based on Freescale SMARTMOS 8 technology.
