Some call him the original Nashville. "Outlaw" Mickey Newbury, singer & songwriter, was one of a kind. He was an artist with exceptional musical talent and is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame. I first encountered Mickey sometime in the 1960's with his early hit "I Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In" . For a variety of reasons he never achieved the stardom that came to others of the outlaw era. In the 1980's he moved to Oregon where he lived until his death in 2002. He is perhaps best known for his arrangement of "American Trilogy" which you can watch by clicking on Favorites above.. Here is the fabulous Mickey Newbury and the George Gershwin song for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess, "Summertime". Mikey's website is here: http://www.mickeynewbury.com/
