Biography
I Am The Crown is a melodic black metal band with progressive edges, playing atmospherical mid-tempo music with influences from multiple black metal sounds. The lyrics cover psychological subjects. The band name refers to ‘being the king’ of the ego, despite the sometimes destructive influence the human psyche has.

The band started in 2012 as a side project by members of Baldrs Draumar, of whom Alex was one (known as Schaduwlied). After leaving the band in 2013, Alex took the project as his main focus. Deciding upon a concept album rooted in psychology, he wrote the bulk of the material for the debut album that year.

In 2014, Jens and Ate joined the band as guitar and bass players respectively. The three already knew each other as band members, playing in Stormblown in the 2000’s. During rehearsals the band relied on a drum computer as a necessity, but in time it became part of I Am The Crown’s sound. For now, the official line-up thus consists of Alex, Jens and Ate.

In the spring of 2015, I Am The Crown debuted on stage. The band played several gigs during that year, fine-tuning their music and sound. Recordings for the debut album “On Death And Dying” started in the autumn.

“On Death And Dying” was released in 2016. The album centers around a person with a terminal illness, who’s going through five emotions, trying to make sense of his inevitable death. These emotions were coined by the psychologist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, who wrote this theory in her book with the same title.
