(20 Dec 2018) South Korean taxi drivers gathered in Seoul on Thursday to stage a 24-hour strike and a mass rally to protest a South Korean mobile service company's launch of a carpool service. Approximately ten thousand taxi drivers gathered outside parliament holding signs and singing labour union songs. Kakao, the country's leading mobile service company, announced the launch of a carpool service but has recently postponed the plan due to fierce protest by the taxi industry.
