Please see the "GEM Blog: GEM Unification Rescinded, Officially" video. This is a dramatic reading of "Shot in the Head", a blog by the Stand-Up Physicist, available at Science20.com. For many years, I used a standard 4-vector coupling term in my Lagrangian for gravity. A well-known professor said that was a fatal flaw since the interaction must be spin 1 where like charges repel. Gravity has like charge attract, needing a spin 2 interaction. My way of dealing with the issue today is to use quaternions for the spin 1 interactions, but using hypercomplex products on the current coupling to get a spin 2 interaction. The details are worked out in full.
