Trinidad & Tobago's civil society is calling on Government to be transparent about the analysis and process for arriving at the decision to close the Petrotrin Refinery. In a joint statement from organisations under the Association of Civil Society Organisations of T&T (ACSOTT), Executive Director of the Women's Institute for Alternative Development (WINAD), Folade Mutota, said what is happening to the workers at Petrotrin is happening to all of us, the population of Trinidad and Tobago. At a meeting of Civil Society organisations, she lamented the absence of unbiased analysis of the process leading to the decision to discontinue operations at the Petrotrin Refinery, noting that there has been no dialogue with the population to allow citizens to get answers to their questions.
