Roy Wadia is an award-winning media professional, whose background ranges from international news (CNN International) to public health communications and advocacy with a particular focus on HIV (World Health Organization, British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, Asia Pacific Coalition on Male Sexual Health, AIDS Vancouver, AIDS Care China, Heroes Project). At TEDxChurchgate, Roy made a strong case for individual empowerment throughout all communities--LGBT, people with HIV/AIDS, sex workers, and others--through assertive policy frameworks that assimilate these marginalized communities into the mainstream. TEDxChurchgate is Bombay's first and exclusive TEDxCity2.0 conference, focused on re-imagining urban lifescapes. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
