Janelle Monáe slays and that’s not up for debate. From her addictive melodies to her ***flawless makeup to her infectious positive messages + energy, she provides life everlasting. Although I’ve tried countless times to style my locs into a Monáe-esque pompadour and have failed miserably. every. time. I find that after just a few seconds of listening to Metropolis: The Chase Suite, The ArchAndroid, and/or The Electric Lady, all is right in my life again. I’ve seen her a smooth four times in the last year alone – twice for work and twice for pleasure – and have both caught my life and had to clutch all of my pearls each and every time. For these reasons and more, I appreciate her. It turns out that quite a few of my co-workers feel the same way. Maybe not in those exact words, but they love Monáe as well.
