Patrick Schwerdtfeger discusses the need to categorize your expertise into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. By doing so, you can give away your beginner content for free in order to build trust. This would include blogs, videos and/or podcasts. Give your intermediate content away for free too but only in exchange for their email address. And finally, monetize your advanced content. That's where you make your money. That's where you finally earn a profit.

This video was recorded on August 15, 2009 in Berkeley, CA. It was part of a full-day workshop entitled Social Media Victories Real Businesses, Real Campaigns, Real Results which focused on how entrepreneurs, small business owners and self-employed service professionals can leverage Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube to grow their businesses.

Patrick is the author of Webify Your Business Internet Marketing Secrets for the Self-Employed (2009) as well as Make Yourself Useful Marketing in the 21st Century (2008). You can purchase the latest book on Amazon but you can also get it for free at the following website.

By subscribing, you will receive one chapter via email each week for a year. You should know that the book also includes 6 chapters that are not in the email course and the book also has a step-by-step action guide at the end of each chapter. The email course does not have those itemized to-do lists.

This video is about monetizing your knowledge. You already have expertise. You have valuable content. But in order to monetize it, you need to build a sales funnel with beginner content at the beginning, intermediate content half way through and advanced content right behind the cash register! By organizing your expertise, you can monetize it more effectively with your audience.
