The self-driving vehicle is often dubbed the wheeled mobile robot, with a computer inside it working as an intelligent pilot and sensors detecting the environment. Experts predict that China will lead in this technology as domestic tech giants such as Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent have already stepped into the field, along with car companies such as the First Automobile Group of Changchun and the Shanghai Automobile Group. Meanwhile, major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Shenzhen have issued rules on unmanned driving and pushed for road tests for the technology.
