I Killed A Man
Words: John Schlitt & Mark Heimermann
Music: Mark Heimermann & Dann Huff
(Acts 3:13-15; Romans 14:9)

[Chorus]
I killed a man
Who did nothing to deserve it
Put the nails in His hands
Like my fathers did before me
Yes, I killed a man

Crucify, let Him die
Don't give Him mercy
(Shouting with the Pharisees)
Don't set Him free
We don't need His kind of teaching
(He's messing with our scheme of things)
How dare He go against tradition
He is causing too much tension
We demand His termination
Let Him die!

I killed a man
Who did nothing to deserve it
Put the nails in His hands
Like my fathers did before me
Yes, I killed a man
But He rose again!

Here I am, I'm your man
I can't deny it
(I'm the one you're looking for)
Given up, had enough
It's time to face it
(Can't take this guilt no more)
The sins of my unrighteous walk
Are washed away upon the Cross
My weakness has brought quite a loss
A King is dead

[Chorus]
I killed a man
Who did nothing to deserve it
Put the nails in His hands
Like my fathers did before me
Yes, I killed a man
But He rose again
Yes, I killed a man
