Along with a team of vet club owners, Townhouse is helmed by a guy recently tabbed Austin's "most inspired bartender" by a prominent national mag; instead of filming booty-licious endorsement videos, he's created a classic cocktail den with exposed brick, wood paneling, green upholstered walls, plush vintage furniture, and a 5-story liquor tower with a library ladder to reach those elusive top shelfs that, let's be honest, are still out of your reach. The liberty-taking drinks start with whiskey standouts like the mint-infused Maker's "Kentucky Derby's Bitch" and the huckleberry-infused bourbon "Painted Fence", with sweet vermouth, bitters, rye, and basil-marinated cherries; juniper numbers include the "Red Headed Stepchild" (saffron-infused Sapphire, Strega, Dolin Dry Vermouth, lemon mist) and the pink peppercorn-infused gin/ lemon/ simple syrup/ champagne/ atomized creme de violet "French 69", so now your liver can experience "la petite mort". Other major spirits are repped by the likes of the "Cheech or Chong" (smoked vanilla-infused tequila, pasilla bar syrup, lime juice, Cointreau, house-seasoned salt), the "∏rates Life For Me" (Pyrat Pistol, Zirbenz Stone Pine Liquer, Cherry Heering, housemade "piiirate bitters"), and the Bing Cherry-infused vodka, curried honey syrup, Q tonic "OMG LOL WTF" -- drink enough and you'll forget your A/S/L.
