Marital problems are common and can happen for a variety of reasons. In some cases, the issue might end up as the reason for a divorce. Lack of communication This complaint is the most common complaint among married couples. There are many couples who endure problems instead of trying to solve them. 

Maybe in the beginning they agreed that she would make money and she would take care of the house and the kids but when they face new challenges, they have to discuss a new compact. Marriages can be challenging for most people as it involves melding your life and goals with someone else’s. 

Marriage problems after kids or other major changes can be challenging to deal with and can lead to resentment and feelings of disappointment.  In other cases, the problems are resolved if both spouses are willing to make an effort to address them.

Working through marriage problems in a healthy way can be very difficult, especially because stressors can come from many different sources. 

(1) Be consistent and trustworthy. Each of you should make an effort to be where you say you’re going to be and do what you say you’re going to do. This is one of the best solutions to marriage problems.
 
(2) Communication is a skill like any other, and learning it can make all the difference to your relationship. Learn how to listen without judging or interrupting, and how to get your point across without attacking.

Peter explains why he doesn't condone the so-called "old model" of long-term relationships: marriage.

"So if you say "I can't split up because of the kids!" well No. What you're saying is "I wanna have kids grow up in a dysfunctional, loveless relationship because I don't know how to deal with the co-parenting side separately from the co-habiting side". [...] romantic love didn't exist as a concept 150 years ago..."

- why jealousy doesn't make sense
- relationships aren't meant to be fairy tales
- relationships' primary role isn't to "Make you happy"
- The old model for relationships is fundamentally flawed (backed by statistics)
- EVERYONE starts out as egotistical
- Jealousy & control stem from the primary fear (THAT'S A LIE)
- Everyone gets to have their free will! You can leave if someone cheats on you, but you can't lock them up not to do it if that's the lesson that they need next...
