Having grafted many of the trees with old dessert apple varieties, we under-planted this abandoned cider apple orchard with philadelphus, honeysuckle and bamboo. In the middle I planted a single cutting I had taken from the rosa. filipes 'Kiftsgate', which I had planted along with the rose Sir Cedric Morris to climb the walnut tree at the entrance to the orchard. This film shows how this cutting has now created a canopy across the orchard providing food for the bees, shade and shelter for the chicks, autumn fruits for the birds (and us) and a beautiful fragrance which pervades the whole garden.

Ayant greffé la plupart des arbres avec des variétés anciennes de pommes à couteau, nous avons sous-planté ce verger abandonné de pommes à cidre avec de philadelphus, de chèvrefeuille et de bambou. Au milieu, j'ai planté une seule bouture que j'avais pris de la rosa. filipes 'Kiftsgate, que j'avais plantés le long de la rose Sir Cedric Morris à grimper dans le noyer à l'entrée du verger. Ce film montre comment cette bouture a maintenant créé une 'tonnelle' des fleurs à travers le verger, qui fournit de la nourriture pour  les abeilles, ombre et un abri pour les poules, les fruits d'automne pour les oiseaux (et nous) et un beau parfum qui imprègne tout le jardin.
