SharePoint tends to grow. In this video Rick Taylor discusses vital decision points to either Scale Up or Scale Out your SharePoint 2010 installation to meet your vital business needs. Scaling up means to add capacity such as RAM, processors, hard disks, or network upgrades to increase performance. This can provided needed boosts in productivity. Scaling out means adding additional server, Web Front-end, Application, or SQL servers to add redundancy and provide load balancing and massive increases in SharePoint capability. Each approach has different advantages and disadvantages. Rick discusses decision points and when each, or both, of these options will provide the best service for your vital business processes.
