Legendary Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann was at Berkeley's Pacific Film Archive this week to introduce her movie "Persona" (1966) to kick off the Ingmar Bergman centennial celebrations. We start at the reception preceding the movie at Babette's Cafe at the PFA, followed by her introduction of the movie at the Barbro Osher Theater, & finally audience Q&A at the end of the movie. Ms. Ullmann was in great spirits & spoke powerfully about the movie. I even mustered enough courage to get a photo taken with her :-)

Susan Oxtoby, senior film curator at the PFA, managed the whole affair with great efficiency, as always. Thanks Susan!

From the invitation to the reception:

BAMPFA’s centennial retrospective of Ingmar Bergman’s films begins February 1 and continues through December 2018, oering Bay Area audiences an unparalleled chance to see the films of the Swedish auteur widely considered to be one of the twentieth century’s greatest directors. Comprising more than seventy-five screenings, Bergman 100 is the largest retrospective of Bergman’s work ever mounted in the San Francisco Bay Area. The series opens with a guest appearance by Liv Ullmann, the iconic actress who appeared in eleven Bergman films.

Here is the official video of the introduction of the movie on the PFA channel (much better quality!) https://youtu.be/47dAd_FeYPg
