Amazon's Best Seller's ranking is a powerful thing. You can really use it to determine what products should be making up the bulk of your inventory. Remember though, no single number is perfect. You use a variety of things when determining good product. If an item has an excellent best seller's ranking but there is only one seller then this should be a red flag for you. Not that you shouldn't sell the item, but that there is a good chance that it could be a long tail sale. Why is the best seller ranking so good? It's because the seller has recently sold some units. The ranking is updated every hour. This is a HUGE marketplace. An item with only one seller is a good indication as far as I am concerned that you are dealing with a long tail sale. That is just one example of how a Best Sellers ranking can betray you.
