(5 Dec 2018) Hundreds of people lined the streets of Washington Wednesday to pay their final respects to George H.W. Bush, as the hearse carrying the 41st president was driven in a motorcade to the Washington National Cathedral ceremony. The motorcade slowed in front of the White House before continuing on the route lined with people much of the way, bundled in winter hats and taking photos. Ron Epstein, a resident of Northern California said "George Bush was the President of my youth. I came of political age with him as president." Members of the public - some too young to have ever voted for Bush, some with different political beliefs - waited in the cold to watch the former president's motorcade go by. Many saying Bush possessed the dignity and grace that deserved to be remembered and respected. "He was always very gracious, graceful," said Rita Welsch, a resident of Stafford, Virginia. "And to be honest, he showed us all how to age with that grace and a noble spirit."
