THE RUNDOWN | Is Netanyahu's time nearing its end as prime minister? State prosecution recommended an indictment for Netanyahu, leaving the final decision on whether or not to prosecute up to Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. The pressure is on. Our Ellie Hochenberg has the story.

Story:

The State Prosecution has recommended indicting the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for bribery in at least two of corruption cases that have ensnared him, though Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit on Thursday cautioned the public against believing recently published leaks from the investigations.

Hadashot reported that Case 4000 presents a 'clear case of bribery' while Cases 2000 and 1000 are incidents of 'bribery lite'.

The final decision to be made by AG Mandelblit will come in the next few months with deliberations set to begin in the coming days, State Prosecutor Shai Nitzan revealed on Wednesday.

Mandelblit will discuss 'the complex ethical and legal issues that arise from these cases based on the opinions he will hear in order to make a decision,' according to Nitzan.

'We have made and will continue to make every effort to finish the work as soon as possible,' he told the Globes financial conference in Tel Aviv.

However, Mandelblit said Thursday that his office 'would not be influenced by anything other than the evidence and the law.'

'We aren't pursuing anyone, only truth and justice,' he said.

The police completed its investigations a couple months ago and recommended indicting Netanyahu in Case 1000 and Case 2000 back in February but had yet to provide an opinion for Case 4000.

In 'Case 1,000', the police allege Netanyahu accepted around one million shekels ($280,000) worth of luxury gifts from a number of wealthy benefactors in exchange for favorable government treatment.

'Case 2,000' centers on an alleged arrangement with Yedioth Ahronoth publisher Arnon Mozes to limit circulation of the newspaper's main rival in exchange for more favorable coverage.

In 'Case 4000', police suspect that both Netanyahu and his wife Sara knowingly accepted bribes in a corruption case linked to the Bezeq telecommunications firm.
