The LSU men's and women's track and field teams combined for 16 qualifiers into the quarterfinal rounds on the first day of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds on May 27, 2010. The women qualified four in the 100 meters, four in the 800 meters and one in the 400 hurdles. The men qualified three in the 400 meters, three in the 800 meters and one in the 100 meters. The NCAA quarterfinals of each event was held the following day on May 28 at Irwin Belk Track at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro.
