He was a man plagued with too much gold. The chief problem was, he was too good of a prospector and he liked to prospect, but didn't quite like the actual mining part. He would find a good prospect but he never bother to file on it: he let others mine the ore for him, and he'd take a percentage of the profit as a finder's fee. Folks in the area, such as Goldstrike, Skidoo, Amargosa, Pahrump, Paiute, Tonopah, and even as far as Darwin all respected Old John's finds and treated them as filed and claimed all proper like. With all that prospecting and all his good finds of lead, silver, gold, and other paying dirt, John Lamoigne would hand it all off to some miner or other to work, and John would take a bit of the profit. The problem was, the profit came back to him in gold coins, freshly minted, and in great numbers.
