Birth Rituals reccomended in Islam:
- Wash the baby (not in any particular ghusl format)
- First words a baby should hear are Adhan and Iqamah (name of Allah)
- To do tahnik: chew a date mixed with water of furãt and tarbut of Imam Husayn (a), and then rub a little of that on palate (roof of the mouth) of the baby.
- Give the child a good name (recommended to give the name before the birth)
- Aqiqah: to shave the head of the baby on the 7th day (if cannot do on 7th day, can do on another day)
  give in charity the value of silver equal to the weight of the hair - charity for the poor and needy only
- Sacrifice a goat or a sheep or a camel on the 7th day - sotrongly reccomended the parents of the child do not eat this meat,may be divided in three parts: one for the poor; one for the mu’mineen; one for the relatives
- Do walimah (celebratory dinner) upon birth of a child, preferable for three days
- If its a male child, do the circumcision on the 7th day. - Circumcision for a male child is wãjib, and it is an essential condition for validity of Tawãf of Hajj and ‘umrah
- Prevalent theme for all these rituals is the 7th Day
