Done on KEGA Fusion 3.64. Time in video is slightly off and should be 7:56, if we're going by Sett being out of health in the health bar. So, you may notice that this Story Mode speed run is using Diesel and not Shaq, our titular star! What gives? Well, if you don't want to hear me ramble like a mad man 8 minutes in with a demonstration, here is the deal: There's actually a code to select which fighter you want to play as in Story Mode! Nothing else changes except you're playing that character now (Like you would in Duel/Versus) So I decided to experiment with it. Turns out Diesel works really well for a speedrun! It's not as super of a revelation as you would think it is. Surprisingly, the game is more balanced than one would think (See the time I got here, with room for improvement.) It's still totally possible for Shaq to get a sub 8 minute time too! I am interested in seeing what other people think about this. If this doesn't count towards the speed run record, I can accept that! But I do think that it leads to a very interesting world of possibilities in speedrunning said game! Special thanks to Raikou for his moderation of the Shaq Fu Genesis board on SpeedRun.com and for being a good sport about all this meme running!
