Amir Khandani is a Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. For the past seven years Amir and his team has made great progress with our smart antenna technology research. They're essentially finding ways to help people communicate faster and easier. Such as using your wireless laptop to stream video four times as fast as you did last year, or eliminating "dead spots" where the wireless signal never seems to reach. Then there's our work in the healthcare sector. Small sensors inserted inside humans are monitoring health conditions. It uses a tiny battery to send the signal out of the body. That's where our research comes in. We work on very sensitive, multi-antenna receivers that can detect the weak signals it sends. Waterloo Engineering is the home to a wide range of innovative research that is changing the world for the better. For more information, visit engineering.uwaterloo.ca/research
