[Featuring Streetcar1743]  Terminal 1 (formerly called the Main Terminal) is the original terminal at Lambert.  This famous dome area that serves as ticketing was constructed in the 50's, and has been featured in many movies (the most famous being "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" with Steve Martin).  This terminal was the main hub for now-defunct TWA.  Since TWA went bankrupt in 2001, traffic at the airport has been roughly cut in half.  Many gates were been boarded up, and the facility largely fell into poor condition.  A tornado hit this terminal early this year, causing extensive damage.  Now, a massive renovation is in progress.  As of now, Lambert is one of the most underused airports in the world.  Only 2 of it's 3 runways are in regular use (the 3rd is only used a handful of times each day), and two entire concourses with a combined total of over 30 gates have been closed off. Follow me on:
