When Mary Sachs opened her women’s clothing store on North Third Street in Harrisburg the country was involved in World War I, the Spanish flu was killing thousands of people and Americans were encouraged to purchase war bonds. Sachs opened her store 100 years ago on Sept. 6, 1918, with a very small budget. (Video by Deb Kiner/PennLive)
