Launched in 2004 by UNDP's Bureau of Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR) and the Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (RBLAC), the Caribbean Risk Management Initiative (CRMI) provides a platform for coordinating and sharing knowledge and experiences on disaster risk management and climate change adaptation throughout the Caribbean. Now in its second phase, one of the main components of CRMI is a South-South cooperation initiative that aims to share the Cuban model of Risk Reduction Management Centres (RRMCs) with five other Caribbean countries (The British Virgin Islands, The Dominican Republic, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago). The video "Sharing What Works: Disaster Risk Reduction Across the Caribbean" documents the experience of representatives from the five pilot countries traveling to Cuba to learn about the RRMC model and how it can be adapted to their particular countries´ context. Through the RRMC replication project, the video highlights the value of South-South cooperation and the role that UNDP plays in facilitating it.
