Part 1 of 3
In the opening segment I mostly collect a lot of stuff for the build I want while working through the early game. The most important thing is getting my weapon of choice (an ordinary Mace, which I will use for the whole game), and working on its upgrades.  I also get my favorite shield/rings/armor/crossbow, basically everything I'm going to use for the rest of the run.  Beyond these, the goal is to collect as little extraneous stuff as possible to minimize risks and keep the run short.  After this, I'm in good shape to move on to fight the main bosses.
