The King Follett Discourse in the Light of Ancient and Medieval Jewish and Christian Beliefs, a FAIR conference talk given by Matthew Roper, in behalf of John Tvedtnes. Perhaps none of the prophet Joseph Smith's sermons has been the subject of as much study and debate as the King Follett discourse, delivered 6 April 1844 in Nauvoo, less than three months before the prophet's murder in Carthage. In this discourse, the prophet introduced a number of new ideas, all related to the creation of the earth and man's origin and destiny. John Tvedtnes shows that these ideas have ancient origins in both Jewish, and Christian texts.
