The Godafoss is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. Located about a 45 min drive from the town of Akureyri, the Godafoss is easy to get to by car. You can park your vehicle right next to the waterfalls, there is ample parking. Our rental vehicle was a very huge Ford Explorer. In the year 999 or 1000, the Lawspeaker Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði made Christianity the official religion of Iceland. After his conversion, it is said that Þorgeir threw his statues of the Norse gods into the waterfall.
