Trying out the famous Super Mario 64 long jump glitch. Very useful for speedruns and for getting access to certain areas with meeting star requirements. 

To do this you face Mario towards the screen while on the stairs. Long jump  in the same direction but hold up on the joystick. Repeatedly press the A button as you keep long jumping backwards. If you do it right Mario will pick up speed and fly up the stairs backwards.This takes some practice but it is worth it.
