Hundreds of people braved 50 degree temperatures to take part in the Woodlands marathon. The event was held early Saturday morning with a rout that snaked through the suburban community just north of Houston. Here are some of the pictures I snapped with more about the history of the race: ABOUT THE RACE The Woodlands Marathon was revived on March 3, 2012 after a 19 year hiatus. The Woodlands Marathon will traverse the streets of Town Center and the community on a two-loop 13.1-mile flat course, finishing on the scenic Waterway. In 2012 Seventy-eight (78) runners qualified for the 2013 Boston Marathon. A new race record was set with Jeffrey Eggleston's win of 2:15:37. Friends, Family and spectators will line the streets at various cheer zones in the Village Cheer Challenge to encourage athletes along with music. Participants have the opportunity to run for charities in the Launch Charity Challenge. Come join the excitement as we welcome close to 8,500 runners.
