In this video, ground level is about 500 feet above sea level. Displayed altitude is altitude above sea level. I attached my Motorola Droid GPS-enabled smart phone to a model plane. We were able to watch the GPS data (speed, altitude and location) live on the ground, but had to wait until afterwards to view the on-board video.
