Today we're discussing the Roger Dubuis Symphanie Bi-Retrograde Chronograph, 40mm manual wind, rose gold watch.

On the wrist, 6 1/3", 16 cm in circumference. The watch has an impressive stance especially for a formal timepiece built in the late 90's, early 2000's. It is 40mm across the broad of the case from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock, and is relatively thick —14mm — in spite of not being automatic. From lug to lug, it has a nice span across the wrist at 50.5 mm.

The watch is incredibly handsome and intriguing. It sits nicely on a smaller wrist, as small as 15 cm in circumference.

The strap is held on by screws, which is great to see on high-end watches. The watch has great attention to detail, featuring a combination of polish and vertical satin finish.

The strap is comfortable, secure and very substantial — calf-skin on the bottom, alligator on the top, broad tapered black monotone-stitch leather alligator strap.

Other features include a gorgeous, rose-gold filigree-style Roger Dubuis RD logo, day/date feature and single deployant clasp.

The watch is classical and progressive. The size isn't overwhelming. It's full-sized, not oversized.

This chronograph is powered by a crisp Roger Dubuis Calibre 5630, 25-jewels, manually winding, based on the famous Lemania 2310 Calibre used at various times by Roger Dubuis, Breguet, Patek Phillippe, Vacheron Constantin, and more.

This watch is crisp, beautiful, and fun.
