A Program of Liberal Studies major while at the University of Notre Dame, Fyrqvist, class of 2005, says she left Notre Dame believing that people have the ability and obligation to make big changes for the better in the world. But, after teaching for some time at an orphanage in Honduras, she chose to return to South Bend, Ind., now a place she calls, "home." There, working among the homeless and serving as a force for change in her own neighborhood, she has experienced the transformational power value of acting locally. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
