And then if you're coming from a non-religious background there's stuff in there that can come across as downright barbaric, no different than Sharia law today. I've found it helpful to take a step back and look at what the Hebrew word "torah" literally means - because it doesn't mean law, that's a mistranslation. The verb behind "torah" means to point out the way, to give direction. Watch to learn more.
