This video shows the construction of balsa wood blades equipped with external tip weights.

The materials used in the process are cheap and easy to get. Only one power tool is used in this video, and it can be easily replaced with a manual one. This enables the blades to constructed solely by hand.

As these blades were designed to be used in a light model autogyro, they use external tip weights instead of internal ones like most rotor blades do. Although they are not the safest nor the strongest way to chordwise balance a blade, they are the lightest. For the same mass, an external tip weight can achieve chordwise balance while an internal weight cannot.

This enables longer blades to be constructed for the same weight, allowing less power to be used in flight.
