(5 Dec 2018) LEADIN:
Jordan's foreign minister says he still doesn't know the details of Donald Trump's plan to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Ayman Safadi commented on the so-called "deal of the century" on a visit to Egypt.
STORYLINE:
Jordan's foreign minister Ayman Safadi meets with his Egyptian opposite number Sameh Shoukry in Cairo.
Safadi is in Egypt to discuss bilateral ties and how to deal with regional issues.
Donald Trump's much-vaunted but as yet still unrevealed Middle East peace plan is on the agenda.
It has been promoted as the "deal of the century" which will solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
But Safadi insists he is as much in the dark on its details as the rest of the world.
"We still don't have complete information about the plan," he tells a press conference.
But he's adamant that Jordan only believes there is one viable solution.
"We do not know what the Americans will present as a plan, but we do know our stand," he says.
"The road to solving this conflict is very clear and that is the two state solution which guarantees the Palestinians' legitimate rights."
The Trump administration has told Israel's government it expects to release its long-awaited Israeli-Palestinian peace plan at the beginning of 2019.
