(11 Nov 2018) US President Donald Trump paid tribute on Sunday to American, French and other Allied troops who lost their lives during World War I. He spoke during his visit to the Suresnes American Cemetery and Memorial outside Paris before returning to Washington DC. More than 1,500 Americans who died during the war are buried at the cemetery. Trump has been criticised for failing to visit a different US cemetery outside of Paris on Saturday. Rain grounded the helicopter he had planned to take, and the trip was cancelled. Trump was in Paris this weekend to attend commemorations marking a century after the end of World War I.
